Planning: Website For Original Artist

The website for my original artist Pixie Lott is -

http://www.pixielott.com/

There are various ways on this website in which Pixie is promoted.

There is a section which shows her tweets, and also a button on that to go on and follow her. By having this here, it enables Pixie to gain more followers, which allows her to then promote her music to a larger amount of followers.

Below this is also a 'tweet of the week' section. This will encourage more people to get in touch with Pixie through twitter, as it allows them a chance of getting on to her website.

She also has a section which says 'Releases' - it shows website viewers her latest song releases, which offers an avenue in which to sell more records.

At the top of her website, on the toolbar, there are three certain links which appeal to me. These are 'music' 'video' and 'pix' (pics) - with these links, people can listen to her music and view her videos, which once again promotes her songs, and may also help her appeal to a new audience to those browsing. The link that says 'pix' is there to help promote the brand image. People scroll through the pictures and are able to view what she wears, where and when. It's a great advertising coup.

Planning: Audience

Our 'average audience member'

Indigo Lay
She is 18 and lives in London - a flat near Oxford Street

She will be of a caucasion ethnicity, and works in her local 'Topshop' on Oxford Street.

All groceries are bought from Asda, although she regularly visits Waitrose in order to buy lunch at work.

In her spare time, Indigo loves to sing, dance and party. She constantly goes out with mates on weekends, looking for different places on each occasion.

Indigo reads 'The Sun' and 'OK Magazine'

She gets a lot of her clothes from Topshop due to the discount she gets for working there. A lot of her other clothes come from places such as 'Asos' and 'River Island'

Fanta fruit twist is a favourite drink of Indigo's, although on nights out she enjoys wine and champagne.

Indigo doesn't use much transport due to the fact she can walk to work, but on the odd occasion she takes the bus. On weekends she is more cash driven, and uses a cab a lot.

Her phone is a Blackberry, and she is non-stop using 'BBM', along with this, Indigo has a pink iPod shuffle, which she brings with her everywhere she goes.

Her favourite holiday destination would be somewhere very hot. Not somewhere obvious such as Spain, but a more discrete country such as Turkey.

She likes this genre because it replicates her life in many ways. Having fun, partying, always on the go. It appeals to her also because she loves an upbeat tempo on the music, and this is what it gives her.

Reflecting Back On The AS Year: Mini Music Video

At the end of the AS year we were asked to re-make a small video and edit it. We were given a list of songs, and my group chose - 'Is This The Way To Amirillo'

We filmed and edited in a very small amount of time, and the end product had very mixed results.

I'm able to identify three technical strengths and weaknesses of the video:

Strengths
- The use of a tracking shot throughout
- The good use of medium close-ups throughout
- The use of a fade to open and close the video

Weaknesses
- Miming instead of singing out loud made it harder to edit
- We didn't mark our video properly, which caused problems matching the video to the music
- We didn't use a tripod for important shots, meaning the camera bounced around a little

These weaknesses have allowed me to realise that planning the video thoroughly will be very important, as you'll be able to iron out the mistakes before you've started filming.

Below is the link to the mini-videos we made at the end of the AS year:
