Reflecting on AS

I have learnt many technical skills during AS, for example in editing I learnt:

Using special effects - Color filter
Cutting
Fading
Using transition

These technical skills has been very useful as this year in A2 when I edit my music video, the end product will be much better and more smooth. Editing will not be new to me and already I can think of ideas of how I want to edit the base track. For instance, keeping the pace according to the tempo of the song.

Other aspects I learnt in AS was working with the camera. Learning all the different type of camera shot like:

Close up
Medium shot
Long shot
Wide shot
Low angle
High angle
Tracking shot - Which is used in my opening thriller to reveal the body in the chapel
Panning shot
Zoom

This are a great tool for A2. When it comes to planning my music videos, ideas of how we want to construct the video and which shots to use where will be much easier as we know which will work best. I think that by the end of A2, my editing and working with camera skills will have improved immensely.

Last year I looked at diegetic, non-diegetic and foley sounds. Diegetic sounds being sounds which are visible. For instance, character's voice and noises from objects being moved. Non-diegetic are sounds which are added on such as sound fx and mood music. Foley sounds are everyday sounds like footsteps, door handle being turned, putting on a jacket... Personally, I do not think I will need any of these. Perhaps at the very beginning and the very end of the video if we choose to add a bit of narrative.

However, the song we choose is upbeat. Using foley sounds would be tricky but I'm looking forward to see what will happen.
