Research: State Of The Music Industry

The music industry consists of companies and individuals that make money by creating music. 

There are three major record labels, and these are:

Sony - 

Universal - 

Warner - 

There was a forth major record label, named 'EMI', which has recently dropped out of the reckoning. 

The music industry needs to find ways to make more money, and a great way to do this is to make music videos. 

Music videos offer fans a new and unique way to view their favourite artist.

They are:

- Entertaining

- Easily accessible

- Able to create a closer bond between the fan and the artist



Music videos also offer a lot to the industry itself:
- Advertising
- Image 
- Can raise awareness of a song
- Increase song sales


The music industry is in some sort of 'mini-crisis' at the moment. With vast amounts of people downloading music for free, the industry must find new ways to make money. It means focusing more on arena tours and artist promotion.
